Guard Hauls Water From Ranch To Rio Grande Tank

New Mexico National Guard ferries water from the Alva Simpson Ranch to the Rio Chamario Grande Water Users Cooperative storage tank near Abiquiu. Gov. Bruce King ordered the transport and declared a state of emergency in Rio Arriba County to aid about 35 families and 300 head of cattle after drought dried up the reservoir and small stream.

Mendoza Funeral Services Pending for Francisco Mendoza

Funeral services are pending for Francisco Y Mendoza 65 who died in Deming Saturday evening. A native of Pinos Altos he lived in the Silver City area all his life. Survivors include four sons Frank of Tucson Ariz Paullo Alfreda and Edward all of Silver City two daughters Felicita Montes of Deming and Mary Acosta of Silver City 12 grandchildren one brother Inez Barra and one sister Maria Rodriguez both of Silver City
