A State Bureau of Revenue study shows New Mexicans earning 20 000 to 54 090 dollars paid 43.3 percent of state income taxes in 1975 while zero to 10 000 dollar earners paid 7.3 percent and 10 000 to 20 600 dollar earners paid 29.1 percent. The four year study, based on computer listings, tracks tax liabilities from 1972 to 1975 and notes higher earners increasingly bear a larger share of the total 66.1 million dollar liability in 1975.

Water shortage looms for New Mexico Rio Grande
The Soil Conservation Service warns New Mexico faces a bleak water outlook for the upper Rio Grande with snowpack in Colorado at 31 percent below normal and New Mexico 70 to 75 percent below normal. More Miles For Cars Year 2000 Forecast
A Department of Transportation study projects higher miles per gallon for 2000 cars due to lighter plastics and metals. It forecasts about 16 million vehicles sold that year using less fuel than the 10 million sold this year. Current cars average around 25 miles per gallon. The transportation trends study was released earlier this month.
