El Paso Natural Gas pitches to New Mexico lawmakers
El Paso Natural Gas officials outlined a plan to abandon a 670 mile Jal to Blythe pipeline and sell it to SOHIO to move crude oil from Alaska to gulf and midwest refineries. The proposal could lower gas rates, create New Mexico pump stations, and shift Alaskan crude to west coast and midwest markets while facing FPC approval and intrastate service limits.

Roswell Water Research Facility to Close July 1
An Interior Department official says the Roswell brackish water research facility will shut on July 1 due to budget cuts. The 12 year old plant near Roswell employs about 21 people. Assistant director Jack Jorgensen noted no budget funds exist to continue operations, while Dr. William Butcher and Steve Reynolds will meet in Santa Fe next month to seek options to keep the plant open.
