Silver City and mining district schools closed today due to a fresh snowfall. Cliff area schools stayed open. Superintendent John H. Gaines cited ADA funding drops from high absentee counts during bad weather, with makeup days in spring boosting attendance figures.

A gas turbine trip at the Community Public Service power plant in Lordsburg caused a two county outage during peak demand.
