Russians Hurl Cosmonaut Into Earth Orbit Flight

Injured in Grant County Piper Cub crash near Silver City
William Turner and Larry Himes of Silver City were hurt late Monday after noon when their Piper Cub attempting a landing at Grant County Flying Service crashed. Turner sustained a concussion a throat cut and arm injury while Himes bore a back injury and a broken shoulder.

Dodds Charged With Incest Warrants Issued in Silver City
A warrant charging incest a third degree felony has been issued for Iran Dodds of Silver City, a former beauty shop operator. The Grant County Sheriff's Department issued the warrant after a Silver City Police Department investigation. Bond is set at $8,000 and Dodds had not been apprehended by noon today. Warrant issued under authority of District Attorney Dave Serna.

David Serna Jr a 14 year old Silver High School sophomore won the American Legion district oratorical contest at the Veteran Center. He will advance to the bi district contest then state finals. Competitors included James Thode of Mayfield Las Cruces and Angela Wallace of Cobre High School. The event centers on the U S Constitution with five minute improvised speeches after formal deliveries.
