Woman Railroader Breaks Ground On National Stage

Screwworm Reports Decline in 1974 Infestations

In New Mexico livestock 100 screwworm cases were confirmed in 1974, down more than 90 percent from 1973. USDA, via Dr. D A Mitchell of the Douglas center, notes the 1974 total was about 10 percent of the 1,124 cases in 1973. Sterile male flies are released to prevent hatching eggs in the eradication program.

Cobre Alternates Named for Seventh Annual Computer Symposium

Dr. David M. Dennis of Western New Mexico University announced three Cobre High School students Janet Fry Nancy Hunter and Andy McNaughton are alternates for the Seventh Annual Computer Symposium after a computer programming aptitude test. About 60 of 400 contestants advance to finalists with six hours of instruction and programming work at Western New Mexico University.

Obituaries for Richard F. Beck and Minnie Mann Hendrix

Richard F. Beck 49 of Silver City died Sunday at Hillcrest Hospital. An American Fork Utah native and Kennecott Copper accountant, he served in World War II and is survived by wife Mary Louise Beck son Clint C. Johnson and multiple relatives in Utah Idaho Ohio New Jersey. Minnie Mann Hendrix 86 of Silver City died Sunday at home after 54 years in the city. She leaves two daughters, ten grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren with services pending at Curtis-Bright Funeral Home.
