George Upshaw Dies in Silver City at 62
George Upshaw aged 62 and a 16 year resident of Silver City died early today at Hillcrest General Hospital after years of ill health. His widow Clovia Mae Upshaw also of Silver City is named. Funeral arrangements are pending at Curtis Mortuary.

Navy planes strike North Vietnam barges and radar site
U S Navy pilots from three aircraft carriers attacked more than 200 supply barges and junks along Haiphong, reporting 111 ships damaged or destroyed. Rockets hit a surface to air radar site and a torpedo boat as seven MIG 21s were shot down by American Air Force planes. The Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce board formed a committee led by Tom McCabe J T McMillen Sam Murphy Gayland Wallin and Dr C C Cobb to study the cost site and final feasibility of a chamber building. New appointments included Mrs Ea Ward as county representative and Hugh Hawkins elected treasurer, Date Young to fill Hortons board seat with terms expiring next year. An election is planned March 31 for five expiring seats while a nominating committee of three was named amid protests over higher membership fees.
