Guilty Pleas Entered After Campus Rifle Incident
Two Silver City men Paul Dean Kartehner and Ivan W Light pleaded guilty in Bilger City Magistrate Court to discharging a firearm within city limits. They were apprehended near the Silver City Post Office by Campus Police Chief William Haughton and Officer Gary McDaniel after a loaded 30-30 rifle was found in their auto. The weapon is linked to a shot on a traffic sign at Western New Mexico University campus Sunday evening.

Capt Robert Sisk Dies in Vietnam Service
Capt Robert Allan Sisk 38 of Bayard died Friday in Vietnam from a cerebral hemorrhage while serving his third tour. He previously served in Korea and Germany. Born January 31 1933 in Emory Texas he attended Hurley Public School and New Mexico Military Institute Roswell. Survivors include his parents two daughters Robin and Nancy of Colorado Springs. Funeral arrangements pending arrival of the body.

Auto mechanic instructor Harry Markowich of Silver High School will sponsor an open house on February 9 at the school's auto mechanics building in the far side of the student parking lot. Accident injures two at Yucca and Silver Heights intersection
Two people injured in a Monday automobile crash at Yucca Street and Silver Heights Boulevard. Geraldine Evernbrack, 49, and Agnez Mueg Rodriguez, 43, were taken to Hillcrest General Hospital after their vehicles collided near 11 40 p.m. Mrs Rodriguez stopped to enter Silver Heights Blvd, and Joseph Grijalva, 46, was cited for reckless driving.
