Tax Group Flounders NM Taxpayer League Ends Activity
Fred G Hansen president of the New Mexico Taxpayer Research League said the group folding before its May membership meeting due to insufficient funds and resignations. The organization, once called the New Mexico Taxpayers Association, shifted from lobbying to research but failed to raise money for fulltime researchers. Some backers withdrew support, mainly railroads, and Hansen doubts the little taxpayers will suffer, while urging local chapters to revive effort with funds and time.
