Mummy traced to Oklahoma outlaw in 1911 train robbery tale
Los Angeles AP reports Elmer McCurdy died in a 1911 Osage County train raid after a gun battle with deputies. His mummy, used as carnival display and security for a loan, surfaced in a Long Beach fun house when a TV crew filmed The Six Million Dollar Man. An autopsy and inventory traced the corpse through carnival buyers to Friedman's Hollywood Wax Museum, and onward to a fluorescent display at Nu-Pike Amusement Park before the discovery.
