Western New Mexico University presents Mandel's Messiah with a choir of about 80 from WNMU and local towns. The program, directed by Lewis Spencer, features soloists Mary Ann McPhee Virginia Walker Donata Gnader and J R Spurlin. The Civic Symphony Orchestra conducts William Tietze. No admission. donations welcome.

The Manana Chapter of the National Secretaries Association held a meeting to plan the upcoming semi annual division chapter officers gathering. Myrtle Pane, Caroline Perez, Teresa Castrillo and Dorothy Simins attended and reported on topics, including Division Charms proceeds and by law revisions. Final plans for a Christmas party were set for Perez Deo and a potluck dinner preceded the meeting at Pipe Phillips home with President Marge Preil presiding.

Patterson Awarded Scholarship at State Bicentennial Event
Tom Paterson, of WAFS principal Prod Vega, won first place in a state competition earning a $1,000 scholarship and an all expense paid trip to Williamsburg Virginia for seminars on education and social issues in January 1919. He qualified for a $10,000 national prize and will attend a 4-H Congress in Chicago as a top winner. He donated a dog skeleton to SHS biology and wrote a dog care pamphlet in Silver City. He is the son of Mr and Mrs Alex Paterson.
