Library Building Drive Beginnings of Fund Drive in Silver City
Mrs. Helen Lynch librarian at the Silver City Public Library and W. W. Little Tyrone manager announced a $10 000 donation from the Phelps Dodge Foundation in New York City toward a building fund to expand the library. A total of $50 000 is needed locally to double the current size. Federal matching funds equal 75 percent will be sought, not available after March 1, 1908. The library now holds about 21 000 books and the current space is full.

Four accidents were investigated in Silver City. Mary Lou Madrid, 32, was rushed to Hillcrest General Hospital after an intersection collision with Viola Mae Keene, 42. Both drivers were cited. A second incident involved Viv Eriot Bennet and Everett Gausson, both of Silver City, with Bennet’s parked vehicle struck as Gausson backed out to avoid traffic.
