The Silver City Board of Education invites sealed bids by 2 p.m. August 10 1973 at the Superintendent office 107 N Bullard St for supplying milk to school cafeterias for the 1973 74 year. Bids must quote firm prices through January 15 1974 with no escalation clause. President H A Cape signs for the board.
Ford Motor Co was expected to join Chrysler Amer ican Motors and others in seeking higher prices as Phase 4 anti inflation measures began. Prices on 1974 models may rise with increases approved by the government while food clothing and paper costs already climb. The Federal Reserve raised the discount rate to 7.5 percent as the price freeze persists for petroleum and beef ceilings through later dates.
A report ties photographer Norman Delaney to the Kent State shootings aftermath. Witnesses describe a gun moment during the confrontation as police investigated who fired. Delaney, a former newspaper staffer, later said he issued press credentials and recalled seeing a gun fired.
