Famous Guitarist To Perform Here
Alex Unavez a University of New Mexico singer will perform at Western New Mexico University Fine Arts Auditorium Thursday at 730 pm. The event is free and open to the public, sponsored by the WNMU Cultural Affairs Committee. Chavez, born 1923 in Capujin Colorado, studied at De Paul and Colorado, teaches music at UNM, and is billed as an interpreter of the Spanish way of life through folk songs.

Walk Takes Toll As 63 Year Old Amputee Finishes Trek
ALBUQUERQUE, N M AP Ron Ruden a 63 year old amputee who walked 152 miles from Albuquerque to Elephant Butte was in satisfactory condition at Veterans Hospital after an apparent heart attack following his walk He was transferred from Belen General Hospital after a companion Carl Kemp ferried him there when Ruden suffered a seizure on the return trip Kemp said Ruden was lost 20 or 30 times during the journey Ruden used nitroglycerin pills and oxygen during the trek He collapsed near the end and was revived by heart massage Ruden who lost a leg in 1965 after open heart surgery undertook the walk to raise money for the Optimist Boys Home in Memphis Tenn
