Loyalty Day Parade Slated For Saturday

The 1962 Loyalty Day observance will feature guest speakers Father William Allar and Rev. Kenneth Bonny at Cobre stadium after a 3 p.m. parade assembling at Central Avenue and Coffee Street. Themed Show Your Colors, the event includes Indian Dancers of the Order of the Arrow and a parade lineup in three sections with bands, scouts, youth groups, and local dignitaries. Diamonds Missing From Jetliner Crash

Great Race Program For Chamber Members

Western New Mexico University Great Race Racing Commission will host a program for the Wednesday Geon luncheon in Silver City Grant County Chamber of Commerce. Paving Project Public Hearing Slated Tonight

Auto Crash Kills Two on U S 66 in New Mexico

The Associated Press reports two traffic deaths on U S 66 in New Mexico. William Bisine Hayes of Birmingham and his wife Emma Rhee Hayes were injured when their sports car collided with a 1940 car blown into its path by wind ten miles east of San Jon. James Herbert Christian, 18, of Albuquerque died in a separate crash seven miles west of Albuquerque.

Second New Mexico plane crash leaves two missing and a body found

Gallup authorities report wreckage and pilot dead at the first crash site near Callup. A second missing Cessna 182 flight from Phoenix to Farmington, piloted by Phil Moloso, was located later after radio contact describing being 1,400 feet up in stormy conditions. South Vietnamese Army Goes On Special Alert

South Vietnamese army units in Saigon and 11 surrounding provinces were placed on a 10 percent alert amid intelligence reports of a major assault on the capital. U S troops remained on the alert level from the February lunar New Year offensive. A North Vietnamese colonel allegedly surrendered plans for a 10 000 troop attack, while allied forces reported 135 enemy casualties within 40 miles of Saigon during operations in the 3rd Corps Area.
