Western New Mexico Univ Wind and Jazz Ensembles Plan Silver City Concert
The Wind and Jazz Ensemble from Western New Mexico University conclude a three day southwest New Mexico and Morenci tour with a finale concert on April 21 at 8 p.m. in the WNMU Fine Arts Auditorium. Conducted by Dr. William Tietze with Roger Brandt as associate, the program features a Wind Ensemble set and a Jazz Ensemble set including a synthesizer for the first time. The concert is free and open to the public.

Ed DeJarnett director of instruction for Silver Consolidated Schools will prescribe a film and discuss coping with problems in single parent homes at the PWP meeting. Students Shine at State Science and Engineering Fair
Four Silver City students from La Plata Junior High School reached the state finals in Socorro on April 16. Milter earned second place in zoology in the junior high division. Rachel Cowan, a co first place winner, received the U S Energy Research and Development Administration Award and a national museum display invitation. Joey Tipton placed third in the high division with multiple awards. Tom Felzien earned honorable mentions and state qualifier honors.

Johnson, a 1971 Silver High School graduate, holds a BS in Special Education from Brigham Young University and teaches as a Speech Correctionist in Alamogordo. Mullen, a Hillsdale College graduate with a Pharmacy degree from UNM, served in Vietnam and worked as a pharmacist in Silver City. The couple plans a June 23 ceremony at the Manti Temple.

Grant County ARC To Meet At Native Plant Nursery
The Grant County Association for Retarded Citizens holds its regular monthly meeting tonight at 7 p.m. at the Native Plant Nursery in Ft Bayard. Secretary Freddie Johnston says topics include the April 30 financial aid project for the Special Olympics and a May 29 endurance horseback ride with entrants from four states to boost ARC funds.
