Sen. Abraham Ribicoff urges a vote on an amendment to a 15 billion federal bill to force inner city and suburban schools to merge plans for desegregation. He warns the courts’ power would be weakened unless Nixon and Congress act, while Senate leaders set a schedule.

Pete Perea motions to adopt, but Ben Attumtrane and Johnny Perez do not second. The council may recall the proposal. It authorizes $600,000 in water and sewer revenue bonds to fund two new wells and expand sewer service to four unserved town areas.
The American Legion and Auxiliary of District Seven plan a spring convention in Silver City at the United Veterans Center. Registration begins at 9 am, with a joint session from 10 to 12:30, lunch at the Drifter, and separate business sessions including officer elections. The convention adjourns in the afternoon.
