University Civic Symphony Offers Final Spring Concert
The University Civic Symphony plans its final season concert on April 21 at Western New Mexico University Fine Arts Auditorium. The program includes Frescobaldi Toccata Fletcher Folk Tune and Fiddle Dance Beethoven Symphony No 3 Creston Night in Mexico with Dorothy Grandi on trumpet and David Barela as bass singer. Barela, a Silver Citian, and Grandi, retiring after 20 years in Silver Consolidated Schools, perform pieces from Mozart Verdi Gershwin and more with the Silver Crescent Ballet Company adding dance. The concert is free to the public.

Local youths enlist in Delayed Entry Program for Army service
Ronnie J. Sanchez has been accepted for four years in the US Army under the Delayed Entry Program and will report June 16 for seven weeks of basic training. He chose Engineer Equipment Repair and 10 weeks of specialized training. He is the son of Mrs. Margaret G. Sanchez of Bayard and senior at Cobre High School. Tony Rodriguez enlisted Dec 30 1978 for three years under the Delayed Entry Program and will report June 4 for seven weeks of basic training. He chose Armorer Unit Supply Specialist and eight weeks of specialized training. Tony is a senior at Cobre High School. Funeral services for Mrs Elizabeth M Druley are set for 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Curtis Bright Funeral Chapel with burial at Masonic Cemetery. A native of San Jose she lived in Silver City 46 years owned a restaurant and is survived by son James E Druley of Albany Oregon. The state Capitol at Springfield DL was built of limestone 1868 to 1887 costing 4 000 000.
