Arrests in Unlawful Assembly Case Named and Fined
Bonham reported descending courthouse stairs as police began arrests of five women prisoners and more individuals charged with unlawful assembly. Jaquez his wife Mary Jess Galavan Frank Sanchez and others aged 18 to 26 faced charges. two juveniles also held. Seventeen adults named, two pleaded guilty and paid a 50 dollar fine plus court costs. John Slénner and Rodeny McDermitt were also arrested after clashes with demonstrators. Skinner charged with obstructing an officer and McDermitt with assault.

University Study Group Continued in New Mexico
Gov. Bruce King signed two bills to extend the Legislative University Study Committee through early 1973 using existing funds. The university panel, created after controversy over a poem in freshmanEnglish, will run through 1972 and gain a permanent interim status for the School Committee, expanding membership from seven to nine with five representatives and four senators.
