Gov Connally To Be Honored Oct 9 At Prison Rodeo
Governor John Connally will be guest of honor at the second performance of the 1966 Texas Prison Rodeo on Sunday October 9 in Huntsville. He will speak thanking corrections staff for creating this entertainment benefiting inmates. The show features Justin Wilson Norma Zimmer Jo Ann Cadle and inmate entertainment. The rodeo includes Mad Scramble Saddle and Bareback Bronc Riding Bull Riding Hard Money Calf Tussle and a Chariot Race with inmate acts. Final Rites Held Tuesday For Mrs Villa Becktol
Final rites for Mrs Villa Dilemmia Becktol, 88, were held Tuesday at 2 PM in Farmer Funeral Home chapel with Rev. R E Barclay officiating. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont. She died Sunday night at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont. A native of Ladonia, Texas, she spent most of her life in Beaumont before moving to Silsbee about 20 years ago. Widow of Frank R Becktel, longtime Santa Fe Railroad fireman. Survived by one son Frank C Becktel of Silsbee, one sister Velma McGee of Berkeley, California, and three grandchildren.
