C R Baker purchasing agent for East Texas Pulp and Paper Feeny returned Saturday from a hunting trip in the mountains near Pinedale Wyoming. He went with three former colleagues and visited Denver before continuing to Wyoming. He was away for one week.
The Bessmay Baptist Church announces a revival from Sunday October 28 through Sunday November 4 with nightly services at 7 30 p.m. Rev Billy Bridges is the speaker and Rev Jimmy Jones leads song services. Rev E B Lancaster is the pastor.
Wildlife officials report limited range for native whitetail deer after tagging 168 animals in Mason Gillespie and Llano counties during 1954 55 and 1955 56. The greatest movement observed was two and a quarter miles, with many deer staying near original traps, supporting modern game management and harvest methods to prevent starvation during food shortages.
All cubs attended in uniform at Den 1 meeting held at Bill Bellenger’s home on Monday. After a brief business session the boys carved Halloween jack o lanterns. Britt Plunk acted as scribe and served refreshments.
Floyd M. Loftin of Silsbee serves in Korea with the 7th Infantry Division. He is a wireman in the 2nd Battalion Headquarters Company, 17th Regiment. Loftin entered the Army in March 1955 and trained at Fort Carson, Colorado, with Daisy his wife living in Silsbee.

The Ludus Club hosts a homecoming tea for current and former members during Silsbee High School’s homecoming events. Attendance contest winners will dine at Little Mexico in Beaumont by the losing side on Nov 8. The next social will feature a white elephant sale and an entertaining program by Mrs Eugenia Nixon and Mrs Alice Marshal.
The Friendly Blue Birds met Monday at Mrs. Jack Shepherd home with seven members present. They opened with the Blue Bird wish and a song. attendees made Halloween masks and Sharon Murphey served refreshments.
The Texas Joint Railway Labor Legislative Board met in Austin on October 10 1956 and urged railroad employees to vote for Democratic candidates in the November 6 1956 general election. It also advised absentee voting for train and engineman workers away from home and offered recommendations on eight constitutional amendments with positions for or against, plus a special election November 13 1956.
