Texas Agriculture Earned $3.8 Billion In 1972
Agriculture Commissioner John C. White announced Texas earned about 3.803 billion dollars in 1972 from crops and livestock. The report notes higher values for most major crops and livestock, with cotton, peanuts, pecans, and vegetables among the key contributors despite weather-related declines in some sectors. Death losses rose in cattle and calves, but overall income neared four billion dollars with potential for 1973 if crop yields and prices improve.
