Fuqua was nominated by the Texas Safety Association Awards Board and DPS Director Homer Garrison Jr. for an act of highway courtesy.

Army Specialist Four Pete Gonzales 23 son of Mrs. Juanita Gonzales of Kountze joined personnel from the 4th Armored Division 41st Infantry in a field training exercise in Germany March 7 12. Gonzales a machine gunner entered the Army December 1958 completed basic at Fort Hood arrived overseas May last year and is a 1955 Kountze High School graduate formerly employed by H and H Cash System.
