Connie Carlton 18, Lamar Tech freshman and Silsbee High School graduate, died after an auto incident on a Corpus Christi beach. He rode on a car fender, fell, and was run over. Funeral held in Silsbee with burial at Resthaven. Survivors include parents, two sisters, and grandparents.

Negro Hospitalized After Sunday Night Automobile Crash
Frederick Stringer, 29, of Silsbee, was critically injured in a one car crash near Evadale highway at the city limits Sunday night. The vehicle left the road, rolled 300 feet, and both he and passenger Sam Johnson were thrown from the car. Stringer was taken to Parker & Copeland Clinic and then Beaumont hospital in serious condition with internal injuries.

Silsbee school board met in special session to review bids for a new band hall and the Kirby Stadium seating expansion. Foster Bros.
