Santa Fe orders 100 flat cars and 150 trailers
Santa Fe Railway announces the purchase of one hundred eighty five foot flat cars from General American Transportation Corp and a subsidiary orders one hundred fifty forty foot refrigerator trailers from Fruehauf Trailer Co. Deliveries start in July and finish by September. Trailers enable fruit and vegetable transport from California and Arizona to the Midwest. Seventy five flat cars will carry automobiles. Refrigeration units handle 70 degrees Fahrenheit to 10 below zero and auto heat cool as needed. Worthington Corp. supplies self defrosting units tested from 120 degree heat.
