Shrimp Tracking and Reef Adds to Gulf Fisheries Efforts
The U S Fish and Wildlife Service releases 24000 tinted shrimp with blue and green heads near Galveston to track brown shrimp migration from Galveston Bay. Earlier 12000 tinted shrimp were released off Florida. Fishermen are urged to report found shrimp to Galveston and receive 50 cents per shrimp. A new artificial reef near Freeport, built from 600 old encrusted birdies tied with steel cable, sits 60 feet deep beside a natural reef six miles offshore.
