Connally to Speak at State Bar Convention in Dallas
Governor John B. Connally will address the 81st annual Texas State Bar convention in Dallas along with Attorney General Waggoner Carr and Frank Ikard of the American Petroleum Institute. The four day event July 3 to 6 will feature about 50 speakers and attract some 4000 attendees with first day legal institutes on criminal law and creditors rights.

Funeral services were held May 30 at Village Mills Baptist Church for Zelma Miller 48 who died May 29 in Beaumont. Survivors include husband Lawrence, one son and several stepchildren. Burial was in Village Mills Cemetery with Rev J R Spears officiating.

Kountze Soldier Promoted to Specialist Four in Germany
James D. Walters of Kountze has been promoted to specialist four while serving with Battery C of the 3d Gun Battalion in the 82nd Artillery in Germany. A 1958 Kountze High School graduate, he joined the Army in 1961 and arrived overseas in 1962. his wife Wanda lives on Route 2.
