County officials push to acquire right of way for Ben D. Smith Road
Hardin County Auditor Hor ace Moye and County Judge Emmett Lack urged the Commissioners Court to obtain right of way price estimates required by the Texas Highway Department for the Ben D. Smith Farm-to-Market Road project. They noted the state has finished engineering and environmental work and that about 29.9 acres on the north side must be acquired, mostly from timber companies, with an estimated $30,000 to $35,000 needed from Revenue Sharing funds. The court discussed redistricting and fund division for Road and Bridge spending, while some members urged immediate action to secure the necessary rights of way.
