Waggoner Carr To Head Texas Cancer Drive
Texas Attorney General Waggoner Carr will chair the 1964 Cancer Crusade organized by the Texas Division of the American Cancer Society. Carr, elected at the Houston divisional meeting, will mobilize 80 000 volunteers for a month long drive starting April 1, aiming to surpass last year’s contributions of 1 575 203 11. He also joined the Society's board of directors and executive committee. Carr cites a growing cancer threat and seeks record participation to fund research education and services. He has had a long public service career including five terms in the Texas House and two consecutive Speakerships.
