Silsbee Council weighs water crisis and repairs
City Manager Hickerson told the Silsbee council that a cold snap left the water system in a critical state with under 200000 gallons in a one million gallon storage. Broken pipes forced shutdowns and drip-keep usage, with the Darwin well down to 500 GPM. The council approved Layne Texas Corp repairs to impellers, a four day process, while planning for future pumping and storage upgrades. The April 2 election will be combined with the school board vote.
