Senses in common with man among game fish explored
Sports Afield discusses how bass and brown trout share sight hearing smell taste and touch with humans. Sight dominates feeding, fish are near sighted and rely on size movement and color. Hearing vibrations influence feeding little. Smell guides but plays minor role. Taste is minor and action of lure matters more. Touch affects bite response with soft versus hard lures. Also notes fox hunting passion among bird dog trainers and the culture around field trials.

Farmers urged to file ACP requests early says chairman
Wayne L. Cook, chairman of the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation County Committee, urged farmers to plan soil and water conservation efforts for next spring and summer and file requests for program assistance promptly. The 1964 ACP, drawn months ago, is accepting applications at the county office. The cost share averages about half the cost of practices such as establishing vegetative cover and improving water use efficiency, and ACP has effectively encouraged conservation on privately owned cropland, pasture, and woodland.
