Fallout Shelter Survey Highlights Five Hardin County Sites
Engineers from Walter Kidde Engineers Inc completed a survey listing five sites in Hardin County suitable for fallout shelters. In Silsbee only the first floor hall of the high school would work. Sour Lake's main building and parts of the north wing are suitable. Kountze options include parts of the three story courthouse, the old courthouse, and the old jail. The old courthouse, with limited rehab, could shelter about 1900 people, with costs ranging from 60 to 120 dollars per person. The county has not decided on next steps.
