Silsbee School Board Votes To Desegregate
The Silsbee School Board unanimously passed a resolution to comply with the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and sign an Assurance of Compliance. The action ends segregation in district schools and secures about 50 000 dollars in federal aid and commodities by ensuring no race based distinctions in services. Supt Don L Hough noted the district had already been accepting all students and that non compliance could have led to loss of funds or court action.
