Geological Survey maps expand nationwide during June project
The Geological Survey began publishing topographic maps in 1886 as a tool for scientists and the public. About 90 percent of the nation is now covered by these maps, used by laymen and professionals alike. Last year the Survey distributed over nine million copies. State index maps and brochures are free, while most maps cost 1.25 dollars and can be ordered from the Distribution Office in Denver, Colorado 80225.
