Little Theater Holiday Program for Children Saturday

The Silsbee Little Theater will present a holiday program for area children through the fourth grade on Saturday, December 14 at 3 p.m. at the theater building on Avenue I and Sixth Street near the fire hall. Beaumont entertainers Sam Galwsky and Sam Edwards III will perform a magic show, with a puppet show directed by Mrs. Barbara Parret and assisted by several local ladies. Admission is free and refreshments follow the hour long show. casual dress is advised as children sit on the floor.

Advent service in Silsbee-Lumberton area to stream across churches

A third Advent service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday December 15 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Don Sheffield preaching. Offering will aid the World Children’s Fund to feed hungry children. Other pastors from All Souls Catholic and First United Methodist join. Community welcome.

Ladies Night Observed by Silsbee Lions Club

The Silsbee Lions Club will hold Ladies Night December 17 at 7 30 p m at The Pilgrim House in Kountze. The event replaces the noon meeting and invites Lions members and their wives. Gifts for boys and girls will be donated to Toys For Tots for Christmas.

WMS Christmas Party Planned at First Baptist Church

The Women's Missionary Society of the First Baptist Church at 625 North Second Street will host a Christmas party Monday December 16 at 7 30 p m in the home of Mrs Susie Watkin. Mrs Irene McDonald will read the Christmas story and gifts will be exchanged. Rev Saropoop Booker urges all members to attend.

Silsbee Women Are Winners At National Bridge Tourney

Silsbee residents Mrs E M Prewitt and Mrs L L Barclay helped a team tie for fourth in the Women’s Swiss Teams Championship at the American Contract Bridge League 1974 Fall Tournament in San Antonio from November 29 to December 8. Teammates were Mrs R D Colley and Mrs H D Horwitz of Beaumont as 134 teams competed in the event. Swiss teams have grown popular in duplicate bridge.

Dental Society To Honor Dr. McNeil At Christmas Dinner

Sabine District Dental Society hosts its annual Christmas dinner December 12 at 7 p.m. at the Ramada Inn Beaumont. Dr H M Sorrell of Houston and Texas legislators attend as guests. Principal speaker is Dr Monson Briggs Jr. Dr W C McNeil of Silsbee, retiring from practice, will be honored for longtime service on the Texas Board of Dental Examiners and with the Texas Dental Association. SDDS serves eight counties: Chambers, Hardin, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Newton, Orange, and Tyler.

The Nu Upsilon chapter held its Monday night gathering at Mrs. Lee Kelly’s home for the regular meeting and annual Christmas party. Reports from committees were given and Mrs. Dietrich presented a rub-out paintings program after the business portion. Twenty five Lamar University freshmen were initiated into Alpha Lambda Delta, honoring high academic achievement. Among new initiates are Robin Lee Hawn and Barbara Gwen Lawrence of Silsbee and Carol Sims of Village Mills for meeting GPA 3.50+ and 15+ hours in the first 30 Lamar courses.
