County budget hikes tax bill for hundreds in Hardin County
Hardin County Commissioners adopt a 1,422,977.60 dollar budget for 1969 and set a general tax rate of 1.20 per 100 valuation. Road district rates vary 12 to 35 cents, with 750 to 1000 taxpayers facing a 20 percent increase as assessed values rise from 25 to 30 percent. Atlantic Richfield tax payments are uncertain, affecting expected collection around 72 percent until a settlement is reached. Local appraisers found many properties were under assessed, triggering the higher levy for some residents.
