Texas adopts state regulated malpractice rates after 20 years
The State Insurance Board approved 11 company groups filings for doctors dentists and hospital liability insurance ending a two decade gap. Basic rates for 25 000 75 000 limits set, with doctor 100 000 300 000 limits about 50 percent higher and hospital limits about 40 percent higher. Rates range from 140 to 1 032 yearly by county and specialty. The board chairman urged progress while Texas Hospital Association plans its own insurance effort.

Funeral Services For Bruce D Gravis 35 Held In Evadale
Funeral services were held for Bruce Owain Gravis 35 of Evadale at Central Baptist Church Evadale with graveside rites at Morse Cemetery Buna. Gravis died Saturday night at St Joseph Hospital Houston after a lengthy illness. He served in the army Beaumont Police Jasper and Hardin counties deputy sheriff Woodville chief of police and head of security for Malone and Hyde. He was active in Evadale Masonic Lodge Eastern Star Lions Club and other groups. He is survived by his wife Carolyn and two daughters Katherine and Helen, his parents, three brothers and a sister.

Funeral services for Charlie Eddings age 59 of Silsbee were held at 4 p.m. Aug. 3 with graveside rites at Cunningham Cemetery. He died 11:50 p.m. Friday at home after a lengthy illness. He is survived by wife Catherine, a son Do. R. Ed ding, four daughters Susie Sloat Valerie Rulon Kathy Gray Charlene Eddings all of Silsbee, four brothers George Wilburn and Oscar Eddings of Silsbee and Woody Eddings of Fred, and a sister Dicie Jeffcoat of Jasper.
