Charles Brashears an 18 year old route man for Basin News Co of Paducah Kentucky vanished last Wednesday and a wide search is under way. He was last seen in town and his car and a company billfold with checks but no money were found in Memphis Tennessee according to the news office.
The November term of circuit court begins next Monday with Judge Marshall Craig presiding. The printed docket lists 167 cases, 32 on the nominal docket and 135 on the Civil docket, with expected deletions and new filings. The criminal docket shows various charges including forgery, assault, statutor y rape, burglary, larceny, grand larceny, and careless driving. no murder charge is listed. Poor jurors and alternates are named for multiple townships, followed by listed criminal cases such as felonious assault, common assault, indecent exposure, child molestation, statutory rape, burglary and larceny, and grand larceny.

Kelty Bert McKenzie 36 of Rt 2 East Prairie died suddenly at his home at 6 30 am today He was the son of Mr and Mrs W A McKenzie of Eddingburg W and had lived in the community the past 30 years He is survived by two brothers Charles and Owen both of East Prairie and a sister Mrs Luth Dille of Poplar Bluff.
The Essex Schools will re open on Monday November 4 after a five week fall vacation. There will be a full day of instruction with bus routes operating as usual. Classes begin at 9 o'clock and dismissal is 3 20.
Karl James Roeder 30, president of the Piggott School Board, died after a three car crash on Highway 16 near Highway 61. Curtis Mitchell 25 from Portageville backed from a driveway as Marjie A. Rodgers 24 of near Portageville, driving a westbound truck, failed brakes and collided with Roeder’s eastbound car. Roeder died at Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital. Roeder’s brother Andrew Williams Roeder 61 and his son John Smith Roeder 32 reported injuries. Rodgers and her two daughters had minor injuries.
Kenneth Anderson 78, a former Charleston resident and businessman, died Monday evening in a Centralia Illinois hospital. Born in Hickman Kentucky, he was preceded in death by his wife Lou Stotts. Survived by daughter Anna Mae Beckmeyer, sister Ward Luten, both of Centralia, plus a grandchild and great grandchild.
Otto Bugg of Morley Road in Scott County has lived on the same farm for 72 years, asking if anyone else in the county has matched or surpassed this long tenure. He was born on the farm and has remained there since.
Mayor Chas H Butler urges residents to stop burning leaves in streets as it violates city ordinances. Untended leaf fires may spread to lawns or houses, with wind spreading embers and risking property damage.
Stoddard County Sheriff and State Patrol arrested Bill Perkins 19 of Dexter and Harold Taylor 23 of St Louis early Tuesday after a sequence of bad checks. Perkins faces forgery and license charges. Taylor to be charged with passing bad checks. Checks were reportedly passed in Sikeston Dexter and Lee's Service Station.
Weekend traffic patrol reports one new fatality and fifteen injuries in the county, with totals for the period showing thirteen killed in the week, sixty-six in October, and seven hundred seventy-nine for the year. The sequence of incidents includes a 12 year old boy, Sammy Lee Bradler of Caruthersville, dying after being struck by a car on Saturday morning.
Dr Ralph Franklin of Morehouse Missouri testified before the Senate Internal Security Subcommittee in Memphis describing 18 months of Communist Party membership starting in early 1954 while at UT He said he joined after being approached by Dr Vincent Myers and left after learning the party’s public stance contradicted his findings He credited friends who were intelligent sincere and well informed with influencing his decision.
