Florence Lemons Finley, 80, died Tuesday at her Bertrand home. Born January 3, 1875 in Paris Tennessee, she was daughter of Calvin Lemons. She was a General Baptist Church member and leaves four sons Otis Eura in Bertrand Lonnie in Phoenix Arizona Vernon in St. Louis, three brothers Dillon Elmon Edgar, 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

In Poplar Bluff Missouri a man battered the door of his estranged wife’s apartment, shot Mrs. Mattie White a 35 year old practical nurse, and then killed himself. Police said the couple had separated for about four years and the motive remains unknown. Ira White a 43 year old janitor at area schools in Bresley was identified as the gunman.

Sikeston High School's famed 100-piece marching band appears for a last time on the football field in the Bull Dogs vs Bluejays game this Thursday. Under Keith Collins, the group has been the season's feature at all home games and a Jackson, Missouri photo session, with plans to perform mainly as a concert band thereafter and occasionally for public events.
