Mrs Maud O Bannon Allen wife of Albers Allen editor and publisher of the New Madrid Weekly Record and Postmaster died in St Francis Hospital at 3 a m after two decades of illness She was born June 29 1882 in New Madrid daughter of the late Dr William N OBannon and May Williams OBannon She married Albert O Allen on October 4 1916 in St Louis She was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Parish and church choir She is survived by her husband three daughters and a brother Rosary was said at Richards Funeral Home and funeral services will be held at Immaculate Conception church with burial in Evergreen cemetery.
Mrs Lucinda Baker Eaves 78 longtime Mississippi county resident died at her brother Joan Bakers Bertrand home at 1 am Monday She was born September 28 1877 in Bollinger County Her husband John Madison Eaves died in 1936 She survived by brothers John Baker of Bertrand and Jill Baker Bankahee and sisters Emma Cato of Punico and Ada Butler of Piedmont Missouri
The Transp ogram factory fund committee aimed to raise 100 investment per member to reach 75000 for new employment prices in Sikeston. By yesterday morning the fund was within about 5000 of the goal, and five members reported adding 100 each or more. New investors include Lonnie Stannley Mark Childs C G Zaiegenhoern T A Martin and Chas Conn. Co HL Denman added more than 100 today. A full investor list will be released after the campaign ends.
Trentis Vaughn, 40, died Sunday at the home of his grandmother, Abrs. Bette Vienehn, in Hayti. Funeral at 2:41 PM Tuesday at the Matthews Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Herschel Yates, with interment in Matthews Cemetery. He was the son of Mio and Mrs. Arthur Vaughn, a lifelong Matthews resident.
The Board of Education discussed a new progress report for children in grades two through six. The plan, created by teachers and parents, tests a trial use this year to better indicate a child’s academic standing. Superintendent Twitty noted it may be adopted if satisfactory. The meeting also approved using the Yanner Street Church of God recreation room for physical education due to high school overcrowding and authorized related fund expenditures.
In East Prairie near Fast Praise a farmer shot and killed his daughter Millie Franks 46, as she and her husband Lew sought to take a 22 caliber pistol from him. Deputy Sheriff Gene Pickexw and Coroner Travis Shelby said the claim was accidental while noting the father had previously abused his daughter.
Marshall A. Blackburn, 77, died of a heart condition early Monday at his home near East Prairie. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday from the Christian Church with Rev. Mervin Propavent officiating. The burial was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery.

The Most Rev Joseph E Ritter Archbishop of St Louis administered the Sacrament of Confirmation on Tuesday night to the largest class in fifty years at St Francis Mavier Parish. Mayor Butler and others cited cost and urgency, with debate over bond funding and nearby fire station plans continuing beyond the vote.
