Moon eclipse obscured by thick clouds in Missouri
Tuesday night’s total moon eclipse was visible to many regions but cloud cover in Southeast Missouri rendered the event largely unseen. Highway workers to get raise January
Pay increases averaging 76 percent will go to the Missouri Highway Department's 1200 employees after January 1, Assistant Chief Engineer J H Daniels said this week. Ranging from 2.5 to 9.6 percent, the wages resulted from a recommendation of an intra department committee of five who studied the varying pay scales for all employees.

Night Club Theft Remains Unsolved
Burglars robbed the Cotton Club Thursday night of cash totaling eight to ten thousand dollars. The crime, described as professionally thorough, left only two pennies in the safe and little trace. Police from Sikeston, New Madrid County, and the State Highway Patrol aid the investigation. Paul Jones Jr, owner, found the break Friday afternoon after the club closed Thursday night. A thousand dollars in a filing cabinet remained untouched. The intruders forced the back door and slashed a panel to reach Jones office. No burglary insurance.
