Production of pig strip shoes from bacon rind to run 7 to 10 million pairs annually on a gradual small scale, under a War Production Board order effective December 1. Unrationed shoes must use unrationed material and sell at prices of rationed footwear, with availability extended to misses and women.
Harvey Parks Airport once home to the Missouri Institute of Aeronautics will serve as a storage base under the Defense Plant Corporation. Surplus training aircraft will be kept in hangars, with planes arriving in the next days. Wm. C. Sutton is in sole charge, after moving from Parks. Mrs. Paul Brewer and Miss Betty Ruth Limbaugh work in the storage base office.
Three people injured in a collision between a Limbaugh cab and a 1941 Chevrolet near Sikeston on Highway 60 east of town shortly after noon. Cab driver Lucian Herring and passenger Mrs Orlina Wilson sustained injuries. Lieut Jared B Holderman and his wife Mrs Holderman were involved with hers and the wife suffered a fractured skull.
Sikeston insurance salesman W A Myers will be guest of honor at a Memphis Chamber banquet at the Hotel Peabody where he will receive the Distinguished Service Award of the Sales Managers Bureau for a third straight Mid-South honor. Mrs Ernest Kellett of Sikeston and her brother Charles Mainord of near Matthews report the War Department says their brother Cpl Fred Mainord 27 has been missing in action in Germany since November 14. He has served nearly three years with the U S Infantry. Before service he worked in Indiana. He has two brothers in service Ray in Holland and Cadet Wayne in training with the Army Air Corps in Decatur Alabama. Also listed among patients at the local hospital are Mrs Ray Mender Sikeston and others from nearby towns.
Sikeston Civil Air Patrol members completed a short drill and began their first instruction class at the Armory on Monday night. Commander Pete Medley invited more volunteers to join aviation work and announced a film on CAP duties to be shown next Monday night for attendees.

Davis attended Sikeston High School and state colleges in Maryville and Jackson and was a B 17 bomber pilot with combat training in Tennessee and New Mexico.
