Sikeston Guardsmen aid in Army Training Tests at Camp Ripley
Sikeston's Headquarters Company 1st Battalion 140th Infantry arrived at Camp Ripley Minnesota August 17 to assist in Army Training Tests and weapons familiarization through Friday. Of 70 members all but one attended with leave. They will travel to Dexter then Sikeston, with weather mild and nights cool. The unit notes good trout fishing nearby and river recreation.

Plant Food Firm to Increase Production
Percy McCall, assistant manager of the Missouri Plant Food Company, said the firm expects to begin producing mixed fertilizer by mid September. The plant on Highway 60 west is completed and storing raw materials, with machinery installation described as slow. Once running, all mixed fertilizer types will be produced and 30 to 50 workers will be employed.
