First Plane Sale At Harvey Parks Airport Draws Few Buyers
Ten of twenty planes offered at Harvey Parks Airport by the Defense Plant Corporation had been sold by noon Friday. Don Mason, agency representative, said sales were brisk briefly as buyers from five states pursued a few popular aircraft. Purchasers included Paul Osborn Sikeston and J R Johns Moscow Ark among others. Sale continues. no official details yet on a dismantling plant.

Dr. Amon Abel Mayfield, Sikeston’s longtime physician and civic figure, died Sunday morning of a heart ailment. Born 1868 near Mayfield, he practiced 40 years in Sikeston, served on the Board of Public Works, and was active in the Baptist church and Masons. Funeral Tuesday at the Baptist church with burial in City Cemetery. Survived by wife Maggie, two children Loomis Jr. and Jean, and several siblings.

Roads Remain Closed As Water Recedes Slowly
High water is receding but southeast Missouri still shows multiple road closures this week. State Highway Department lists Highway 67 north of Greenville, Highway 34 near Patterson in Wayne county, Route 106 from Matthews to East Prairie, Routes K and T in New Madrid county, and Routes A N and U in Mississippi county.
