In Hillsboro New Mexico October 3 1895 Richard Mansfield White recounts the Hermosa area exploration starting with W L Crooke discovering the Palomas Chief mine near camp. The party includes Johnson Rosch and others staking claims like Jose Hilda Embolite Massive Nourse American Flag and Silver Brick while fighting cold and fear of Apaches. a later plan to form a mining district is noted.
