Martyr the hen with a wooden leg and a gold ore ledge tale

A long narrative recounts Martyr the hen owned by Charles F L Wilcox, who lost a leg to a stone injury. After medical care failed, the hen was spared and given a maple leg. Gilbert Girard fashioned the wooden replacement. The tale shifts to gold prospecting in the Zan region, where float led to rumors of a rich gold ledge, prompting others to seek the source rock and potential wealth amid mountain life and local politics.
