Killing at Crown Point mine shocks frontier town

At the Crown Point mine near Gallup on April 26 a miner, John McColgan, was killed after a confrontation with Joseph Hamilton who claimed self defense with a barrel stave. Hamilton was bound over for the next grand jury on £500 bail. The incident marks a rare violent death in the mining region.
