The Socorro Chieftain recalls Col Chadwick of Albuquerque duck boating on the Rio Grande. He left six decoys, forgot his bearings, and crawled two hundred yards to shoot at a flock. When shots failed, he fired again and saw several birds fall. On closer check he had shot his own decoy, mistaken for a real duck.
