Train Robbery Suspects Surrounded by Posse. Deputy Killed
Reported at Belen New Mexico the posse pursuing train robbers encountered them near Angelicity Creek seventy miles south west of Belen. Deputy Sheriff Frank X. Vigil and an Indian guide were killed in the exchange as the posse pressed the chase. Three robbers were reported killed and buried at Santa Rita. Francisco Xavier Vigil a Valencia county official and Low Chaves resident is named among the deceased. A later dispatch claims Vigil and his deputies and Navajo trackers pressed the robbers until surrender was refused and gunfire resumed.
