Notice of Application of Cony TB for States Patent 10

In accordance with the United States mining laws Cony T. Brown holder of rights in the Ay Grow Lode claims located in the Sierra County region New Mexico announces an application for a state patent. The survey plat and field notes describe the boundaries and extent of the NY Lode and Johnny Lode claims with adjacent conflicting claims Pride of the Camp Johnny and Moss unsurveyed. Total areas and locations are given with references to survey numbers Book K and location records in the land office. Original and amended locations are recorded Docket Nos 798B 462 620 and 452 with boundaries starting at Cor 1 and involving adjoining claims and conflicting claims.

Formerly Pests but New Bonanzas From Kansas Sunflowers

From Topeka Kansas comes word that the sunflower once seen as a weed in Kaneas has become a major crop. Hundreds of tons are now harvested for coarse paper and insulation materials. The Russian thistle once a farm pest is now used as forage hay when cut early. Sweet clover, a roadside weed for years, is cultivated as a soil renovator and hay substitute for poor land. Soap weed grows wild in western dry lands and, when green tied and sun dried, yields a rope stronger than braided hemp.

Judge Nebler suspended the Torrance County board of commissioners and the county clerk from office pending trial after charges were filed. Change of venue to Lincoln County granted. hearings set for Carrizozo in March. Governor McDonald appointed O. W. Lassater as clerk. Thirty convicts to Camino Real road camp at Nogal Canyon to alleviate prison crowd after recent fire.

Night watchman Crushed On Christmas Eve Bridge Collapse

George Davis, night watchman on a new bridge at the foot of Pinas, fell at 11 o clock on Christmas Eve, plunging toward the river. Aiding workers hustled his charge to warmth nearby but it took hours to thaw him out as temperatures hovered about two degrees below zero, according to Las Vegas News.
